Green Building: Engineers Striking a Balance Between Serviceability and Environmental Responsibility

Buildings are indispensable for our everyday living and are most often an indicator of economic advancement of a society. Buildings also protect us from the excesses of Nature: cold, heat, wind and rain. Yet the construction and operation of building can have adverse effects on the environment because they require enormous amounts of energy, water, and materials and creates large amounts of waste. They alter the ecosystem and create new indoor environments that can lead to environmental problems and challenges.

Amid the volatility of the environment and the pressing need for industrialization of the nation, a new field called “green building” is arising to reduce that impact at the source. Green or sustainable building aims to create healthier and more resource-efficient models of construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition. In this light, the Civil engineering Executive Organization shall conduct a seminar entitled “Green Building: Engineers Striking a Balance between Serviceability and Environmental Responsibility.”

The Engineering Seminar aims to inform budding engineers about this environment-friendly design approach that can contribute to a more sustainable national construction industry. The event shall be graced by reputable speakers from various companies and organizations who will share their practice-based knowledge and insights on the concept of green building.
